I have worked with a few small businesses for freelance branding. It's an ever changing design world and it's hard to stray from the AIGA process: DEFINE, RESEARCH, IDEAS, DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION.
These are a few examples of problems that I've solved. I tend to like a crisp and clean minimalistic type of design, and am also influenced by Stefan Sagmeister, Debbie Milman, and Chris Do with the Futur podcast and all of his youtube videos of course.
It's sometimes easy to skip over some of these steps, but I'm finding the more I stick to these Ideas, the more efficient and successful my designs are. I would really like to be on a team that continues to challenge these steps and so I can augment my process in an even more personalized way.
MW Fire and Water Restoration
A Milwaukee based local business offering personalized remodeling for Damaged homes due to fire and water. MW stands for Marino Witmer (the last names of the business owners). We wanted to explore a refined readable look that was an upscale version of what was already out there. Combing through many of the other brands offering this service, they seemed to take a string affirmative literal fire and water image and we wanted to steer away from the obvious and make the brand more personable.
Jenna Marlene Photography
A family owned business in Appleton, Wi that specializes in family lifestyle photography. The owner was looking for something that expressed her personal signature, a very specific request; luckily she has a nice looking squiggle, so we didn't really need to deviate from it for the simple watermarks that she was wanting to place on her photos. She already had an account on a website specialized for photographers to host her business, so I helped her put together a cohesive look .
